Editors Review

California RV offers a lot of RVs, travel trailers or toy haulers for rent, but only provides one depot in San Diego.

What California RV Tells Us

The company is one of few RV rentals in California that allow pet inside the vehicle, making them a nice option for pet lovers. All their RV rentals already include 100 miles per day, and most of the rates are more than fair. But having one pick-up and drop-off location is one tough problem faced by renters; hence, California RV may consider delivering your vehicles to San Diego campgrounds. The rental department of the company is quite appealing as it providess a wide selection of vehicles, from motorhomes to travel trailers and even toy haulers, at competitive rates. But, of course, since the company does not only offer rental but also service, parts and consignment, somehow the reputation of the whole company is affected by these other factors.

Fleet

The motorhomes are nicely divided into two: Class A and Class C models, which can normally cater up to 8 people. Smaller groups or bigger families would certainly make the most out of the extensive fleet. Aside from motorhomes, they also supply travel trailers and toy haulers, and each rental varies largely settles within the budget to mid-range market. Almost all vehicles on set are pet-friendly with simple exteriors, which means a more enjoyable trip with no head-turner ads or marketing slogans on your RV.

Class A

Vista

Starting the Class A motorhomes is the 36 ft. Vista that provides 7 seat-belts but sleeps up to 8 because of the additional bunk beds. This recent Winnebago Vista is all about luxury space and comfort, with 3 slide-outs, 1 and 1/2 bathrooms and useful awning. So, for those planning for a fancy road trip, this is a nice find.

Sunseeker

Another luxury unit, the 8-berth Sunseeker is suitable for travellers with kids. Well,  you will not be disappointed with the fascinating inclusions that are tailored for a more enjoyable road trip, especially for the youngers. The entertainment system inside the vehicle is topnotch. There's a TV in the living area, cab-over, bedroom, and two bunk beds, so all in all, there are 5 TV's inside, plus one outside TV!

Allegro

For smaller families in need of a comfortable holiday on wheels, the 35' diesel Allegro could be on top of your list. Sleeping 5 to 6 people only, the motorhome features a convenient floor plan that leaves more room inside for stretching or walking around and a fancy vibe with its leather upholstery. But since this is the smallest Class A model, it only provides two slide-outs instead of three.

Class C

Winnebago

Probably the most popular pick due to its compact size and nice features, the Winnebago is a motorhome that is easy to drive, as well as park. It can sleeps up to 6, with a child seat and anchor point. Just like all other vehicles on fleet, the model is also fitted out with simple exterior but complete amenities that include refrigerator, microwave, kitchen sink, shower & toilet, awning and more.

Chateau

A recent 2016 RV, the 31' Chateau is very spacious. The one huge slide-out expands the living and kitchen area. Aside from the private rear bedroom, there are sleeping places located at the cab-over bunks, convertible dinette and jack-knife sofa, making it suitable for 7 or 8 people. The large basement storage can be very convenient for your gears. However, there are only two TV's provided.

Sunseeker

Another Sunseeker model on fleet is the 31' Class C motorhome with two slide-outs and sleeps 5 to 6. Choose your own sleeping place— queen-sized rear bed, cab-over bed or sofa sleeper. The large pass-through from the bathroom to the bedroom is very convenient. Not only that, this motorhome furnishes a nice indoor and outdoor storage. The solar panels attached to the unit are also very enticing to miss.

Minnie-Winnie

Sleeping up to 8, the 31' Winnebago Minnie-Winne is one of the largest Class C motorhomes. Because of its massive vehicle dimension, it provides a large exterior storage and lots of sleeping areas. There is also an awning for outdoor dining. Just rent out some camping chairs and table at an extra fee. This Minnie-Winnie model has another option that caters 6 to 8, and comes with almost the same features as the other.

At 28', this vague class C model with one slide-out at the living room extends the kitchen/ sofa conveniently. Though the RV is much smaller, it caters up to 8, so the interior layout may be pretty restricted. Still, it provides a private bedroom at the rear, and other sleeping places at the bunk beds and sofa bed. For your stuff, you can easilty store it in the large storage compartment outside.

Insurance

For the insurance, the company requires every renter to get his own insurance coverage and provide them with the copy of of the insurance binder from his insurer. If not, you can purchase a supplemental insurance from the company itself. Aside from that, a security deposit amounting to $250 to $1,000, depending on the travel duration, type of vehicle, as well as the insurance deductible, is required in the form of a credit card. This can be paid either in advance or during the delivery of the vehicle.

Reputation

The company may come with an extensive set of budget to mid-range RVs, along with some travel trailers or toy haulers, there are multiple negative feedback that relatively drags the company down. They also have only one depot for their vehicles, so that is another factor to contemplate with. But if you are considering to bring your pet during your holiday, California RV, of course, is a competitive choice.

Summary

As a whole, California RV is good, but you have to take into account the feedback (mostly negative ones) of the previous renters so that you'll not go through with the same experience. Their fleet is attractive, not just for you, but also for your four-legged furry pets.
