Editors Review

Claimed as the oldest RV dealership in Alaska, A&M RV Center provides RV rentals, along with sales, repairs and service in their depot in Anchorage since 1954.

What A&M RV Center Tells Us

An RV dealership with more than 50 years in service? Yes, and that's A&M RV Center is all about— offering anything about RV dealership, from rentals to sales, and repair to services. Though in the industry for quite a while now, the company's reputation is still a question because of many negative reviews. Since 2007, the company has been locally-run by its employees. Thus, providing a more homey touch to every rental. And since they are an all-in-one RV dealership, you can contact them with whatever problems you have with your rental, purchase and the like. So whether you're up for an exciting hike to Mount Mckinley or a refreshing dip at Homer Spit, the motorhomes from A&M RV Center allows you to see everything without leaving behind the comforts of a true home.

Fleet

The fleet contains Class C RVs that are mostly luxury models. These units largely differ in size, though not particularly in rates. The small to mid-size motorhomes have the same rates, while the large ones are pricier. But all the units come with unlimited mileage. And since these are luxury units, all vehicle come with shower & toilet, as well as awning for outdoor fun. However, though all units come with awning, there were some reviews that showed these are not available for use because of insurance reasons. Well, you can always read the agreement and confirm this one during vehicle walk-through.

Vehicles

Micro 20

The Micro 20 aren't that really small. These are normally 23' 7" units equipped with kitchen and bathroom and sleeping outlets up to four people. Amenities inside a motorhome include sofa, dinette area,  gas/electric water heater, privacy curtains, and a lot more. The ashwood grain cabinetry exudes added luxury vibes, as well as easy storage for your stuff. And the shower & toilet fitted out inside the vehicle aren't just the basics but way fancier— shower skylight and foot flush toilet. For alfresco dining, there is an awning at 14'.

Small RV

A slightly longer unit at 24′ 3″, the Small RVs also sleeps four, which means added space for a more palatial holiday on wheels. As for the amenities, it provides alike features as above, but the attached awning is pretty big at 15'. This motorhome is actually roomy for small families with the same rate as Micro 20. However, the windows for this unit aren't that appealing because it's limited unlike the previous one with more options for sightseeing.

Midsize

Well, there are travellers who want some sensible space while on a road trip and if you're one of those, then renting a midsize motorhome is the answer. With a length starting at 27' and a ceiling height of 7', you can walk around comfortably inside. The 2-way sofa that is convertible into a sleeping place at night, together with the queen-sized bed with padded headboard and pleated night shades, can conveniently sleep up to six. For the bathroom, it comes with a power bath vent, on top with the given shower & toilet.

Large Motorhome

Newest on the fleet are the large motorhomes that are 28' in length and caters up to eight people. Though these are now available, as of this writing, the company has yet to fully advertised this model. But to give you a preview, these units are functionally designed to give more space to traveller and maximize the layout, from the kitchen to the bathroom and down to the bedroom. Other vehicle specifications haven't been made visible by the company, but for sure this one is a delight for large groups.

Insurance

Included in the daily rental rate is the insurance with a $1500.00 deductible. The company requires a $500 security deposit needed upon booking confirmation. To know more about the inclusions of the insurance, it is always advisable to carefully read the fine print. For instance, any damage to the roof may not be covered by the insurance, so better be safe than sorry.

Reputation

As one of the pioneering RV dealerships in Alaska, the company's reputation is neither very recommendable nor very unattractive. The mixed reviews are quite creating a slight hesitation for new renters. Yes, their extensive experience in RV dealership is an attraction but there are several feedback that could probably raise eyebrows such as poor unit maintenance, unreliable service and unjustifiable charges.  But on the lighter note, A&M RV Center is your one-stop shop for your RV needs.

Summary

Even if a business is in the industry for more than a decade, this does not guarantee a flawless reputation. Previous reviews are some of the most useful factors to determine the reputation of a company, but these do not totally define the entity as a whole. You can always see for yourself, but of course you'll be risking something in return. And for A&M RV Center, they are good catch with some uncertain features to consider.
