RV RENTAL INTRODUCTION

In June of 2023 I reserved a recreational vehicle (RV) with Suncoast RV Rental. The RV was picked up 11.21.23 at which time Warren Williams, Lot Technician, of Suncoast RV Rental provided an introduction of the operation of the RV, to include the rental and return procedures. Warren was specifically asked to confirm the level of fuel. He responded “the RV was nearly full but did not have to be refueled prior to return ''. During the walk around introduction Warren demonstrated the process of the automated doorstep when opening and closing the door. While demonstrating the automated doorstep, it malfunctioned, Warren responded it should be okay.

DOORSTEP MALFUNCTION

The RV was driven to South Carolina and upon arrival my relative proceeded to exit the RV. When stepping onto the automatic doorstep it malfunctioned causing my relative to fall and encounter severe injuries.

RV RETURN

When returning the RV on 11.25.23 I was greeted by Warren Williams and explained the problems my relative encountered with the automated doorstep. Warren advised me to speak with the owner (Wallace Williams) about the incident. I found Wallace to show much concern for my relative as I requested a claim number so that my relative could seek medical attention due to the RV being fully insured at my expense. Wallace advised me to call the office on Monday and a claim number would be provided.

REFUSAL TO PROVIDE INSURANCE CLAIM NUMBER

When calling Suncoast RV Rental on Monday as requested by the owner, I spoke with Jennifer Hornberger, Rental Agent of Suncoast RV Rental. After explaining the incident to Jennifer and requesting a claim number. Jennifer immediately became defensive and stated, “she needed pictures of the incident before she could request a claim number”. I responded to Jennifer by asking how I could possibly have pictures of my relative falling and hurting herself. Jennifer responded she needed proof of the incident, and she had no evidence of my relative falling without pictures. I responded that I did not have pictures of the incident as the incident was not a kodak moment. During this conversation I simply gave up on trying to explain the reason I could not provide any pictures of my relative’s fall. I then requested to speak with the owner and Jennifer responded she was the General Manager and handled all insurance claims.

UNAUTHORIZED CREDIT CARD CHARGES

On 12.05.23 I received a customer invoice via email reflecting a zero balance. One month later, I received another email from Jennifer indicating she charged my credit card $140 because the RV was not returned with the same level of fuel. I explained to Jennifer the RV was not refueled at the request of Warren Williams, Lot Technician of Suncoast RV Rental. If customers are expected to refuel the RV prior to return, why did Warren advise me not to refuel the RV. As I became concerned about the unauthorized charge, I reviewed my credit card statement and found another unauthorized charge for which I was not notified of via email.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE

Renting the RV from Suncoast RV Rental in the end turned out to be a nightmare. This company continued to charge my credit card months after returning the RV even after providing a zero-balance invoice. Suncoast RV Rental offers additional insurance protection at high rates, but when an incident occurred Jennifer literally fought with me to avoid providing an insurance claim number.

"First Time Traveler"

This was my first RV trip. I had taken a familiarization course at a big dealership, which was not as thorough as the training at Suncoast. Mr. Williams, made sure to cover situations which could certainly put a damper on the trip. Sharon, who works the front, made sure we were not left out and provided her cell number, for immediate contact. The RV was very clean and well kept. Suncoast really does a great job of seeing to their customers needs. I recommend them, without any reservations, and I plan to use them for future travel.
