About Chuckanut Westfalias

Chuckanut Westfalia is a rental business suitable for people who love the outdoors―but in a more relaxed way. They are located in Bellingham Washington, which is close to San Juan Island Ferry, North Cascades Highway, and the Canadian Border. For convenience, they can pick you up at the airport and provide a storage place for your personal car. And, they also have a private room for rent where you can stay the night before starting your road trip the next day. The outdoorsy owners personally own the two beautiful, road-ready vans that cater to everyone, including your furry friends. Just make sure not to take these pet-friendly vans into the off the beaten path! 

Fleet

The Chuckanut Westies are beautifully refurbished vans that are compact enough for couples and even group of friends up to 4. These are just 15' in length vehicles, hence easy to drive and park even in small to regular parking spaces. Their fleet of road-ready vans are not the newest but are well-equipped with all family facilities―kitchen essentials, dining needs, and sleeping spaces. General supplies such as cleaning equipment, matches, and headlamps are also included. The small portable table and folding chairs allow you to camp outside with ease. And, the upgraded electrical systems give you the freedom to go off-grid for a couple of days.

Vehicles

Honu

Built on a 1988 Volkswagen Westfalia, the Honu brims with new features and versatile amenities. This automatic unit holds a recent Subaru engine, improved suspension, and heavy-duty brakes. All cooking essentials, including electric fridge, are included in your rental. This traditional van can shelter up 4 people, though it fits best for two or three adults only, and of course, your pet! So, if you want a more modern engine, then this a great option.

Van Gogh

Also catering up to 4 persons, the Van Gogh is quite the same as the previously mentioned Westfalia, except for its manual transmission with limited slip differential. This means you'll be shifting gears during your trip but in a smoother way. There aren't major upgrades here compared to the Honu model. So, in case, the first choice is not available, Van Gogh is still a good choice. 

Insurance

Each rental requires an additional of $15 per day for roadside insurance through Outdoorsy. Get more info about their insurance options upon booking. 

Reputation

Chuckanut Westfalia specializes in personalized, vintage rentals. As a small company, they only offer two vans type for rent―catering to groups not bigger than 4. Even so, renting from them gives you a shot in exploring some picturesque landscapes in a relaxed way. Their rentals all have a personal touch to it, and you can see it in their fully-equipped vans. It's like every little yet important thing is incorporated into the vehicle. The units are fun to drive and are even pet-friendly! Despite having one location, they can provide transportation arrangements to the renters. All in all, this simple, local business located north of Seattle is a good rental option for you and your furry friend.
