Editors Review

An experienced RV dealer in Southern California, Norm's RV offers Class C and Class A motorhomes that are great for small or even larger groups in need of a comfy stay on wheels.

What Norm's RV Tells Us

Established in 1993, Norm's RV has gone a long, long way and has now ventured in to new and pre-owned sales, service, parts of RVs and other rental vehicles. The company is the only Route 66 RV Network Dealer in Southern California, making it quite reputable in the area. There's only one depot but they provide airport shuttle service so that pick-up and drop-off will not be a hassle. And if ever your bringing your personal vehicles, towing may be allowed for certain vehicles, at additional cost.

The company requires every renter to purchase their 'Aloha Provisioning Package' that includes initial holding tank chemical treatment, filled fresh water tank, sewer dump hose, leveling ramps, cleaning supplies and more. This package also features the 'Vacation Saver Protection', which means that the company will pay for reasonable lodging, meals and rental car, in case of mechanical breakdown and equipment malfunction, not caused by the renter. Another slash to your budget will be the sheets, towels, utensils and dishes, just in case you do not want to bring your own stuff.

Fleet

Norm's RV makes sure that all RVs on fleet are reliable, so they only offer close to new models with low mileage. Since the units are less than a year old, there are no serious signs of wear and tear, and of course, these are not very cheap. The fleet, however, is not extensive as they only have three options— two Class A motorhomes and one Class C. These RVs can normally sleep up to six people, though there are some units that can extend up to eight. The RVs are diesel-based models with no fancy exteriors, but rather with simple yet full-body paint and slide-outs. To compensate the simplicity of the RVs, they provide useful amenities like generator and complete entertainment with TVs, VCRs and DVD players. With a full range of different sizes and features, renters will not have a problem looking for the right RV that suits their preferences.

Vehicles

37' Bounder Class A

There are drivers who'd prefer Class A over Class C because of the better road view and higher seating position. And if you're one of them, then this 32 ft. Bounder is way suitable for you. The biggest and the most luxurious motorhome on fleet, the unit can comfortably sleep up to 8, with three slideouts fitted out in the queen-sized bed, bunk bed and sofa sleeper up to the convertible dinette.  The living room with fireplace features a fancy entertainment center that includes a large TV, VCR/ DVD player. So, if you're looking for unsurpassed space and luxury, this RV should be on top of your list.

32' Flair Class A

Another option for Class A category is this 32' Flair bunkhouse with double slide. The unit defines comfort and convenience at its best. With bunk beds, convertible dinette, sofa sleeper, and drop-down electric front queen bed, it can cater travellers up to 6 people without limitations. It may be way smaller compared to the above-mentioned, but you will still be greeted with a relaxed feeling and space for a large family.

24' Forester Class C

For most people, they feel that it is easier to drive a Class C because of its height and weight. Yes, it can be true that Class C RVs are easier to drive and park around because of its vehicle dimension, and if you want that comfort all throughout your trip, then the 24' Forester Mercedes Diesel Full-Wall Slideout is your one and only choice. The vehicle is a compact and fuel-efficient model that features a 3.0 liter six-cylinder turbo-charged diesel engine, giving an exceptional performance and saving heaps of money. Even with its limited size, it still leaves lots of space inside and spacious sleeping arrangement— queen bed in the rear, convertible dinette in the living room and cabover bed. Aside from that, the swivel front seats turn into an additional seating area.

Insurance

All motorhome rentals already include the standard auto insurance featuring the collision, liability and comprehensive coverage. But, the liability depends on your personal insurance, by which the state minimum limits must be considered. On top of that, the company requires a security deposit of $500, with no options to reduce such.

Reputation

Offering a limited fleet of Class A and Class C RVs, Norm's RV has done a good job in maintaining a positive reputation all throughout the years. They may not have opted to extend their vehicle rental selection, but they make sure that everything's well taken care of, particularly the maintenance and service, which are just within their reach. The rental rates, however, are not that cheap because most of the RVs are recent, luxury models with fancy amenities.

Summary

For renters who want to add a little budget for a more convenient stay on wheels with a touch of elegance, then Norm's RV can be a pleasant option. Their RVs are great for small or even larger groups, but could be a slight disappointment if you're in tight budget.
