The Sunshine Coast is a region about an hour and half drive north of Brisbane. It is a more relaxed and up market version of the Gold Coast in the south. The most well known of the towns that make up the Sunshine Coast is Maroochydore. The area is known for beaches and just relaxing. Activities in the area are mainly water sports - particularly surfing. There is also bush walks in the mountainous region a little inland.
