Enjoy a self-drive holiday with the self-contained 2, 4, 6 berth campervans from Kia Ora Campers. The fleet of more than 30 units are available for pick-up and drop-off in major cities in New Zealand.
Timaru is a small port city in the South Island of NZ, and is the second largest city in the Canterbury region. If your chosen route is to drive down the eastern coast of the South Island, you will pass through Timaru, a handy halfway point between the two bigger cities of Christchurch and Dunedin. A quaint town, there are many beautiful Victorian and Edwardian buildings. It’s worth a stop to learn about Maori culture at the Te Ana Maori Rock Art tours, or enjoy the beach at popular Caroline Bay. If you are stopping for a night, consider a tour of the local brewery.
With a couple of campervan rental companies situated in the township of Timaru, you can choose to start your journey here and head off North towards Christchurch, south towards Dunedin and Invercargill, or West to explore the gorgeous Lake Tekapo and Wanaka areas.
