Editors Review

Explore Australia in a unique way with a East Coast 4x4 Campers. This family-run business runs a fleet of premium 4wd campers that are suitable for two adventurers, plus two children.

About East Coast 4x4 Campers

Built from a lifestyle of adventure and freedom, East Coast 4x4 Campers started from a Newcastle family home with a coastal way of living. The owners want to share their love for off-outback explorations through their range of off-road vehicles. Since they are a family-run business, this means a more customized service tailored to your needs.

Fleet

From their name itself, the fleet is composed of all 4x4 models that are furnished with all camping essentials, from kitchen stuff to pantry space to comfy beds. Each unit also comes with front and rear cameras as well as GPS tracking to make your trip more convenient. All E4 campers are focused on quality and the simplicity of  setup. There are only two models on offer―Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger. Both units cater to two persons only, though this can extend up to 4 persons (two adults and two children) through the roof top tent.

Vehicles

EC 401 Single Cab

The first on the list is the Single Cab 4wd camper that is built on a Toyota Hilux. This vehicle features a 3.0 litre turbo diesel and a 5-speed manual gearbox with low range four wheel drive. There's a 45 litre 12 volt fridge on slide and a slide out 2 burner butane cooker. A pantry area is also added for all other taller items. And for your entertainment needs, you get a stereo, USB switch panel, and a stereo Bluetooth. On the other hand, the bed area has its own mattress, lighting, and cooling fan. You can also store up to 2 large bags inside the wardrobe. If you're in need of extra storage, you can keep them inside the pullout drawer. Additionally, the overhead shelf has extra linen.

EC 402 Super Cab

The second camper for rent is the EC 402 Super Cab. This Ford Ranger offers some upgraded features such as 3.2 litre turbo diesel and 6 speed manual gearbox. The fridge is also a bit bigger at 60 litre 12 volt, along with some storage spaces behind the front seats.

Insurance

Do take note of the security bond amounting to $7500. This is required at the time of your booking. For possible insurance reductions, you may send them an email and know the options.

Reputation

East Coast 4x4 Campers caters to a specific audience and these are adventurous couples or small families up to 4. This may be a disadvantage if you prefer an extensive range of units for hire. Also, their units aren't for picky travellers because what you'll get here are all camping essentials―no cosy lounge or functional bathroom inside the model. On the bright side, since they are a family-run campervan hire, you get a more personalized rental and generous inclusions.

Summary

If you're looking for a reliable vehicle for your off-road explorations, then East Coast 4x4 Campers has something for you. Though there are only two options, these are pretty commendable because of the nice features and camping gear included.
