Go on your way with the WA Experts' range of 4WD campervans or 'Troopies'. Troopies are built for 2-3 people, wanting to access Australia’s remote areas in the most convenient and rugged way.
About WA Experts
WA Experts was established in 2014 to provide a fleet of campervans that can take you to some of the country's most spectacular yet remote regions. The company lives up to its name as Western Australia experts by customising 4WD trips to each renter. They help you create a personalised route, just the way you like it. Their main branch is located in Forrestdale, Perth while they also have a depot in Howard Springs, Darwin. With two convenient locations, including one-way rentals, renters can easily pick up and drop off the unit at their convenience.
Fleet
Loaded with a fleet of fully equipped 4WD campervans, there's a unit for those wanting an epic outback adventure. The rental range is consist of Toyota LandCruiser 70 Troop Carriers or fondly called as 'Troopies'. Featuring 4.5-litre Turbo diesel engine with a manual gearbox, the units approximately use 15 litres per 100 kilometre of fuel. The campervans originally seat up to 11 but are customised to provide camping accommodation for 2 to 3 people. The rear seats are removed to create spacious storage space. The Troopies aren't brand new models but are not that old too.
Vehicles
Family Troopy
The Troopies are suitable for couples or small families―ideally up to 3 only. For couples, they can retire comfortably in the rooftop tent. And since all Troopies allocate the rear compartment as storage space, this area can be altered into an additional bed for an extra passenger to sleep on. If you are travelling with 4 to 5people, the sleeping areas are from the two rooftop tents and extra separate tent. At the back area of the units are lockable drawers, fridge/ freezer, and drinking water tanks. There is a solar panel on top of the tent that runs the fridge even when you camp out without driving. You are provided with a mobile kitchen packed with gas cooker, cutlery, pots, pans, as well as an awning, table, and chairs for outdoor fun. Other facilities included are PLB, Maglite torch, curtains, insect screens, and plastic boxes.
Insurance
The WA Expert's rental requires a security deposit of A$ 2,500 to be paid during vehicle pickup, by credit card. There's an additional of A$ 1,000 for drivers aged between 21 and 25 years old. The security deposit will be used in case of accident or damage to the vehicle. For excess reduction options, you may want to verify with the company upon booking or arrival.
Reputation
WA Experts is unlike bigger companies that often provide so-so service. Having an owner that is hands-on with every rental assures a smooth and comfortable holiday. Most renters commended the quick and personal service by the team. With two locations and one-way rentals, these give renters convenient options. Plus, the extensive rental fleet that caters to couples and families also adds up to their good reputation. The Troopies are in good condition and are equipped with everything travel junkies would need, well except for shower and toilet. The rooftop tents are noted to be easy to set up and break down.
Summary
In a nutshell, WA Experts are real experts for an awesome, outback WA road trip. And, a thumbs up for well-maintained Troopies!
